All members of the New Zealand Cadet Forces, including Supplementary Staff, MUST whilst in uniform or engaged in a New Zealand Cadet Forces activity:
- Maintain a high standard of behavior.
- Take all practical health and safety precautions to ensure the safety and well being of yourself and all personnel involved in a NZCF activity.
- Treat all others with respect and to a standard one would expect to be treated by others.
- Treat other’s equipment and belongings to the same standard one would expect others to treat their own equipment and belongings.
- Obey directions and instructions given by superiors within the NZCF and by visiting lecturers, tutors or instructors.
- Pay compliments and show respect to superiors, by either saluting or standing to attention when talking to them or standing if seated when they enter a room.
- Maintain a clean, neat and tidy standard of dress.
- Maintain a neat and tidy hairstyle. Hair is to be worn off the collar and if long is to be tied up.
- Maintain clothing and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition and return such items when requested to do so.
- Attend all scheduled unit activities where attendance is expected and when unable to attend, request permission to be absent before the scheduled activity.
- Understand that if three consecutive activities are missed without approved leave, enrolment may be terminated.
- Maintain an acceptable level of performance that is commensurate with an individuals training, experience and appointment.
- Report, on occurrence, any criminal conviction.
Whilst in uniform or engaged in a New Zealand Cadet Forces Activity MUST:
- NOT smoke: Under no circumstances are NZCF Officers or Supplementary Staff to smoke in the presence or sight of Cadets.
- NOT use alcohol: The only exception to this rule is when NZCF Officers are attending authorized activities where they are permitted to consume alcohol in the Ship/Camp/Base Officer’s Mess or Wardroom after contact with cadets has ceased for the day.
- NOT use solvents, drugs or other prohibited substances, or misuse or abuse prescribed drugs or other legal substances.
- NOT swear or use improper or impolite language.
- NOT physically abuse other cadets, superiors, or other persons involved with the NZCF, or other persons.
- NOT engage in any form of physical or verbal behavior that may reasonably be considered as unwarranted, unsolicited and not reciprocated.
- NOT steal from or deceive members of the NZCF or other persons.
- NOT engage in any public displays of affection, including kissing, holding hands, intimate conversations or any other behavior that suggests intimate relations.
- NOT behave in any way that could bring the NZCF into disrepute.
